almost a year down

i haven't posted in a super long time cuz there hasn't been any time to post.

but we're almost at our 1 year mark in october! which means i have 6 months left!

i can't wait to graduate, and finally just work at a salon all day every day. i'm emotionally done working at starbucks, just hanging in there until i find my career job. i look on craigslist all the time and can't wait to start applying for real!

i think bj is proud of me, i know i am proud of me. this has been alot of time and dedication and i have learned ALOT. i'm also realizing i will never be done learning and that is a relief to me. the other weekend i went with christina to the james ryder makeuplabs workshop, and im already excited for the next beauty show.

still hate perms, still love cutting.

*sigh*

we're on week 18!

here are a few highlights (no pun intended)

clementine now has a graduated bob, and i have starting perming her. we all hate perms.

i have a punk rock hairstyle that is super short in back, and longer in the front... with blonde highlights! so much for growing it out... but i will tell you a little story, i was ringing customers up at starbucks and saw this one girl with long hair and it was all stringey and scraggly at the bottom and realized that i never in my life want my hair to look that way, so i think it's staying short a little while longer.

i've learned how to do all over color, partial and full highlights, double process blonde, classic bobs, and now graduated bobs.

Mr. Mario came in one day to do a demonstration. He has a really thick Italian accent, and was very violent with his brushing and combing techniques, so now he is the butt of all our jokes behind closed doors. haha

i've decided i like cutting wayyyy better than coloring. its satisfying and cleaner than the guesswork and mess of chemicals. just shampoo, clean hair, and clean lines.

i still like school, and i even look forward to it after working all day. almost one year until i'm done and can start working in a salon!

week 2

we learned our very first tricoci cut :)

and i got 100% on my classic bob practical rubric

yay!

i also made a friend, and have come to realize i kind of like working around other girls, which is the one thing is was worried about.

i have also come to realize that a diet coke is utmostly necessary on my break.

this week we cut 5 times, curled, flat ironed, and airformed our mannequins... i named mine clementine. we rocked out to: dj tiesto, nelly furtado, ashlee simpson, madonna, and some random polish techno hahaha awesomeness

i love school so far! we're learning so much so fast and i think this is what i like to do. enough structure to fulfill my need for precision, and enough freedom to satisfy my creativity.

week 1

today i learned:

i am now a professional stylist
i have a heart shaped face
"blowdrying" is now "airforming"
"washing hair" is now "shampooing"
i have a lot to learn in a year and a half
